Migration Conference 2016: Insights on China’s High Net Worth Investment in Australia through SIV

Obtain SIV visa programme updates and insights at the 'Migration Conference 2016' delivered by two SIV experts: David Chin, Basis Point & Stacey Martin, NAB Private Wealth

Friday 26th February 10:15am – 10:45am as part of the $220 10CPD one-day Migration Conference 2016 in Sydney.

The Significant Investor Visa (SIV) migration program was launched in November, 2012.

Migration Agents are travelling internationally to win SIV business in Asia.  One example is a recent trip to Hong Kong for the Asian Financial Forum by RMA delegates of Think Global's 'Invest in Australia' Mission.

The picture inset shows at least two Registered Migration Agents in attendance at this event in January 2016, namely Ivan Chait and Jennifer Fong.

David Chin, founder of Basis Point, an Aust-Asia wealth consultancy, ran the first SIV focused conference in Australia. The newly mandated emerging companies and venture capital sector was the focus for the third annual Sydney event last July.

David has established a leading role in SIV, Chinese HNW and property development. He has tremendous insights into the Chinese high-net worth mindset, and keeps abreast of the latest research and trends across the wealth and funds management industries.

In this conference session David will share his insights on the magnitude of wealth in China, why they are looking to migrate to Australia, and what they are looking for in terms of family lifestyle, business and investment opportunities.

Stacey Martin, SIV specialist wealth advisor and Chair of NABs SIV steering committee, has been working with migration agents for the past three years in constructing SIV Compliant portfolios. Working closely with NAB Migrant banking, Stacey brings together a range of professionals to provide a co-ordinated approach from specialist Asian bankers, property and business experts, to international tax, legal and other advisors.

Stacey will provide an update on the new investment framework and practicalities of the SIV program, outline her approach in providing advice to SIV applicants under Australia’s highly compliant financial services regime, and share client case studies including navigating the language and cultural aspects.

Founder of Expat Advisors Community, a network for professionals with internationally connected clients, Stacey has recently returned from hosting an SIV event in Hong Kong, and is the author of “Smooth Road to Travel – China to Australia” available at:

Below are two excellent documents produced by the NAB which explain the SIV programme and give a summary of investment requirements for this visa stream.
