Breaking Australian immigration news brought to you by Migration Alliance and associated bloggers.
The following information has just been received from the Office of the MARA (from an unnamed person or potentially a robot). I thought all DIBP delegates needed to identify themselves and their position numbers. Maybe just not the Office of the MARA delegates. Anyway...
Dear Registered Migration Agent,
The following information is being sent on behalf of the New Zealand Immigration Advisers Authority:
Current arrangements to become a New Zealand licensed immigration adviser through the TTMRA
Currently, Australian Registered Migration Agents (RMA) may apply to become a New Zealand licensed Immigration Adviser under the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement (TTMRA). This allows Australian RMAs to apply for a full New Zealand licence on the basis of their Australian registration as a migration agent, without completing New Zealand’s entry qualification. All other registration requirements must also be met.
New arrangements
From 26 November 2015 all first time applicants for a New Zealand licence through the TTMRA must apply for a provisional licence, to be held for two years before applying for a full licence.
Provisional licence
A provisional licence requires applicants to work under the direct supervision of a person who holds a full New Zealand immigration adviser licence. Information on what is an acceptable supervision arrangement is available in the Immigration Advisers Authority’s Supervision Toolkit.
Current holders of a full New Zealand licence through the TTMRA
Current holders of a full New Zealand licence through the TTMRA are not affected by this change and can continue to hold and renew their full New Zealand licence.
Previous holders of a New Zealand licence who are not currently licensed
This change will only affect RMAs applying through the TTMRA who have never held a New Zealand immigration adviser licence before. If you have previously held a New Zealand immigration adviser licence, but you don’t currently, and you wish to apply for one again in the future, you may apply for a full licence at that time.
RMAs with a complaint currently with the OMARA
Agents with a complaint before the OMARA are prohibited from applying for a New Zealand licence through the TTMRA. In these circumstances the RMA may apply through New Zealand’s usual processes, which would require completion of the entry qualification.
