On 19 April 2014 the Department of Immigration and Border Protection implemented a credit card surcharge for all visa application charges where the payment was made by Credit Card (MasterCard, Visa Card, AMEX, Diners and JCB).
Following a review it was identified that applying the surcharge to Nomination and Sponsorship applications was not legislated. Regulations have since been updated and from 1 July 2014 the surcharge is applicable to all Nomination and Sponsorship applications.
Nomination and Sponsorship applications lodged between 19 April 2014 and 30 June 2014 have been charged a credit card surcharge which the department intends to refund to the clients.
The Department has identified you as a payer who has been charged the surcharge on one or more Nomination and/or Sponsorship applications. Please find attached the details of the surcharge amount.
