Media Release
Migration Alliance is pleased to announce the following news from our exclusive health services partner, Bupa:
Bupa to provide Australian visa health checks
Bupa has won a significant tender to provide visa health checks and a range of other medical and processing services for the Australian Government.
The three-year agreement with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will see Bupa establish and operate a range of purpose-built medical assessment centres in major Australian cities, whilst managing a network of approved medical clinics to provide services in regional areas.
Commencing mid-year, these facilities will provide medical services and health checks to ensure that people applying for visas to migrate permanently or stay temporarily in Australia, satisfy health requirements specified in Australian migration regulations.
Bupa Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, Dean Holden, said the announcement underlined Bupa’s diversity and global expertise in health and care.
“Bupa has widespread experience in delivering outstanding quality health and medical services, both locally and internationally. We already have medical clinics in the UK, Poland and Hong Kong so in many ways, this new endeavour is a very natural fit for Bupa.”
Mr Holden said around 250,000 visa applicants were required to undergo health checks in Australia each year.
“We will be absolutely focussed on drawing upon all of Bupa’s experience to ensure we deliver the best possible service to the Commonwealth and visa applicants,” he said.
Director of Strategy and Managing Director Bupa Health Services, Hisham El-Ansary, will be responsible for overseeing delivery of this service.
Mr El-Ansary said the agreement would cover onshore medical services, offshore medical results processing, relevant ongoing health undertakings and maintenance of clinical notes.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Bupa to broaden the range of health services we offer in Australia, reinforcing our position as a leading health and care company,” Mr El-Ansary said.
Migration Alliance's member migration agents have established a strong relationship with Bupa, Australia's premier health care provider. We extend a warm congratulations to Bupa on this wonderful success.
