Stephen Wood CEO of Office of MARA, leaves

The following has been received:

Dear Registered Migration Agents

I am writing to let you know that after four and a half years with the Office of the MARA, I will be moving on at the end of January 2014.

I have decided to take up a new opportunity in the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s Portfolio Coordination and Innovation Group in Canberra.

The position of Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the MARA will be undertaken by Steve Ingram from 3 February 2014.  Some of you may have met Steve in his current role as Regional Manager East, Status Resolution Services based in Sydney.

I wish you all the very best for the future and encourage you to continue on with your many efforts to improve your collective professionalism.  Whilst there is always room for improvement, I believe substantial progress has been made.  Through good will and collaboration, I am confident this will continue.

Seasons’ Greetings

Stephen Wood

Office of the MARA

Is the MARA any worse under the stewardship of DIBP? Surely it was worse under the MIA, when John Young received a substantial stipend for being a Director and was the major cause of CL's resigning a directorship for which he clearly did not understand.
