As of 26 July 2019, applications submitted under the High Points category are required to have 85 points.
The High Points category has been successful in attracting high quality applicants to South Australia for Supplementary Skilled List (SSL) occupations and occupations on the State Nominated Occupation List which are listed as ‘Special Conditions Apply’.
Immigration SA has received a high volume of applications for the high points category and will be monitoring applications received over the coming weeks.
The following message appears on the Far South Coast NSW website:
ATTENTION: Please note that the Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (SRS) 489 program for the NSW Far South Coast is currently suspended. Due to this suspension, we cannot accept any further applications at present. The program will reopen from 1st August, 2019 and will utilise an update Skilled Occupations List. Skill shortages exist in many parts of Australia, in particular regional Australia, which allows RDA-Riverina to nominate skilled workers to come to the Riverina. This is just one way the organisation is committed to addressing skill shortages and to enhance business development in the region.
The long-term objective is to encourage these people to stay in the region. This visa is valid for up to four years and after two years of living in regional Australia, including at least 12 months full time working in regional Australia, the nominated skilled workers can then apply for a permanent resident visa.
