Starting from 1 July 2025, skilled visa income thresholds will rise by 4.6%, in line with changes to the Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE). This adjustment ensures that skilled migration wages align with Australian workers' wages, preventing the potential undercutting of local salaries.
Key changes include:
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): An increase from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515, affecting the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) and Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186).
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): An increase from AUD 135,000 to AUD 141,210, impacting the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482).
Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT): An increase from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515, affecting the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (subclass 494) and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187).
From 1 July 2025, new nomination applications must meet these updated income thresholds or the annual market salary rate, whichever is higher. The changes will not apply to existing visa holders or nominations lodged before this date.
