The following email was received from the Department of Home Affairs this afternoon:
The Migration (Arrangements for Resident Return visa applications) Instrument LIN22/019 came into effect on 2 April 2022 and replaced IMMI17/031. The instrument provides that applications for Class BB visa must be made using an internet form through ImmiAccount unless a person has received a written notice from the Department that they can make an application via Form 1085 to the Residents Return visa team in Sydney. The Form 1085 will be provided with that written notice. Paper RRV applications received on or after 2 April 2022 will be invalidated if they do not meet the validity requirements outlined in LIN22/019.
Persons who attempt to lodge online but encounter a technical issue, should access technical support in ImmiAccount. If technical support does not resolve the issue, the Department will consider allowing a non-internet application by way of a written notice which contains details about the process to be followed. An additional non-internet application charge may apply, even with departmental authorisation.
Form 1085 has been removed from the Department’s website and LEGEND.com. Registered Migration Agents and legal practitioners should not use or provide Form 1085 to their clients.
