Important update – Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491)

The following email has been received from NSW Treasury today:

In response to a large number of enquiries, please read the information below:

Can I move to regional NSW?

You cannot move to a designated regional area in NSW to satisfy NSW nomination requirements for this visa.

Your place of residence must already be well established and demonstrated through evidence such as: rental payments, rental agreements, bank statements showing purchases and utility, phone or internet bills.

I am subject to a section 48 bar, can I apply for NSW nomination?

If you are subject to secton 48 bar, meaning you must be offshore to lodge a new visa application, you may submit your application for NSW nomination.

However, please be aware we cannot guarantee that we will be able to nominate you to apply for your 491 visa in next financial year, commencing 1 July 2020. This is subject to advice we are waiting to receive from the Commonwealth Government.
