RDA Orana executive officer Megan Dixon said the briefing and networking event being organised by the Transport for NSW and Office of Regional Development signals a fantastic opportunity for electricians, plumbers, fitters and other installation specialists.
“The Regional Rail Project includes a new rail maintenance facility which has been earmarked for Dubbo,” she explained.
“At this meeting, business representatives will be able to network with the three tenderers for the project - Bombardier Consortium, Regional Futures and Momentum Trains.
“Business owners will also hear about other transport projects in the pipeline and meet people who manage programs that can help them prepare for these opportunities.”
“The session aims to support businesses to prepare for the pipeline of projects in the Orana region as well as facilitate business connections with Regional Rail Project tenderers and government.”
The event will include a presentation from Transport for NSW and information on the Federal and State Government programs that can support business capability and participation in project supply chains.
“This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet with government representatives as well as rail tenderers.”
The maintenance facility construction forms part of a larger project which will involve fleet replacement of the regional rail network and eventual upgrade of ageing infrastructure.
“An effective rail network means a lot to the Orana region,” Mrs Dixon said. “It gives people accessibility and efficiency in their transport options.
“Local business involvement in the project also provides work for tradespeople which in turns boosts the economy.”
The Regional Rail Project local industry briefing and networking session will be held at Dubbo RSL Club from 4pm to 6pm on Thursday, April 12. Attendance can be registered at Eventbrite.
