Migration Agent CPD changes from 1 January 2018
The Australian Migration Profession will undergo CPD changes from 1 January 2018
The Office of the MARA (OMARA) are changing the CPD framework for registered migration agents from 1 January 2018. The OMARA have received applications from CPD providers who would like to offer CPD and the Practice Ready Programme from the 1 January 2018. Those applications have not yet been decided. No CPD provider has been approved to deliver training in 2018 at this stage.
All current CPD activities will expire on 31 December 2017.
It is very important that you complete any CPD that you started in 2017 and your CPD points are reported to the OMARA before 31 December 2017.
CPD completed and reported to the OMARA before 31 December 2017 can be counted towards your repeat registration as a migration agent in 2018.
Incomplete or unreported CPD cannot be finalised after 31 December and cannot be counted towards re-registration in 2018. This includes the Practice Ready Programme.
If your Migration Agent Registration is due to expire in early 2018, you are strongly advised to complete all of your CPD points before 31 December 2017. We advise agents to complete their annual CPD points asap. Limited classes now exist between now and the end of 2017.
To assist agents we have found some providers who are offering CPD until the end of 2017.
Legal Training Australia is running low-cost $220 10 CPD workshops in Sydney four times in December 2017 to cater for agents wishing to complete their CPD before the end of 2017. The MIA is running various Practice Ready Programmes and workshops at various price points from now until the end of the year. Enriched Migration Training in Melbourne is running a 3 point workshop on the 7 December.
As these activity types require manual reporting, agents currently undertaking any of these CPD activities must ensure they are completed and reported to OMARA before 22 December 2017 in order to claim CPD points.

Friday, 17 November 2017Robert I am pretty sure that their price is the lowest in the profession. I am not from Sydney and I am flying in to take advantage of the low cost workshop and it means I can meet other agents as well. Why don't you join me?

Yep, $220 is not a bad deal and as stated above, you network with other MA's.

a) cheaper
b) more variety (currently only 2?)

Very good idea about the on-line course. My re-registration is not due until Oct 18 but a reasonable deal for the on-line course would be worth thinking very carefully about.

How about lowering the MA online "private Study" price as well? Not all of us live in Sydney (in fact some of us believe that it is not the centre of the universe!). The 10 point workshop price of $220 will only get 4 points online.
