Closure of Occupations: Unit Group 2231 HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS

Greetings from Canberra

Closure of Occupations: Unit Group 2231 HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS

Effective tomorrow, 10 September 2016, the following occupations will close as the demand for these occupations has been met:

Human Resource Adviser 223111

Recruitment Consultant 223112

Workplace Relations Adviser 223113

If you have an application for one of these occupations ‘in progress’, the application must be submitted before midnight tonight (AEST). You must submit a complete application e.g. all supporting documents attached, as additional documentation will not be accepted after lodgement.

Applications nominating a Human Resource Professional occupation submitted after 9 September 2016 will not meet the ACT nomination ‘open occupation’ criteria.

I am a Canberra based agent and lawyer and after receiving the news of the closure altogether of the off-shore program yesterday wrote to the director of the unit within the ACT government.

    This is what I said:

    Hi Julianne
This is no way to manage the program.
It is chaotic to open the program only to close it again in a matter of months but not before making significant changes both to the occupations list, as if there was some reality to the selection of occupations in demand in the first place, and to the Policy Guidelines. Adding occupations and taking them off two weeks later is also chaotic.
It makes a mockery of the policy and the work that goes into it.
It also makes a mockery of the users of the system and the people on the other end of the application process who have lead times to make applications. This approach does not work for them, it looks bad and it is bad.
It is also poor practice to send the email at 4.31pm advising people that the system will be closing at 4.00pm and they can make applications up until that point.
The system is chaotic and it should not happen this way. It reflects poorly on the ACT Government who it appears cannot run a stable migration program.

We are having an election in Canberra but who knows whether that bears on anything. Regardless of that, the administration of the state plans cannot be this chaotic.

    What can we do???

Daniel Omari Obiri Friday, 16 September 2016

Am Daniel Omari Obiri, a Kenyan I did my bachelors Degree in social work at the University of Nairobi...I had a second class Upper Division, this was on December 2014. Am married with three children. Securing a Social work vacancy in Kenya has not been fruitful to me.
Supporting my family plus my extended family has been somewhat hard. Currently am doing a small business which helps me feed my family here in Nairobi.
Inshort am looking someone to help come to Australia where I can secure a job then I can move on to be independent..Social work jobs in Australia are many unlike in Kenya where the profession is still on its early stages.
    best regards.... reach me on
