Breaking Australian immigration news brought to you by Migration Alliance and associated bloggers.
I have just received this email from a fellow migration agent who wanted me to advise the profession:
Hi Liana ,
Members may need to be informed that DIBP without notification as far as I am aware The website indicates
The current planning level for the Skilled Regional Sponsored General Skilled Migration (GSM) category for the 2013-14 programme year is 28,850 visa places. It seems they have amalgamated these two visa category together .

This means they have surpassed the quota for skilled Australian sponsored and state sponsored visa with these two combined ,
I have been informed by a case officer that one of my clients may be affected by this. I have been notified of the possible effect of this after the client was requested to spend money completing medicals and police clearances when the application is at the stage of rubberstamping the visa for grant.

Response from Case Officer to RMA Richard E Coates:
Dear Richard E Coates,
Thank you for your email.
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection recognises that the time taken to finalise your client’s application may be causing them concern. As advised there may be some delays in finalising applications over the coming months for the remainder of the program/financial year. As you are aware these delays are not directly related to your client’s application and will not affect the outcome but may affect the time it takes to make a decision on your client’s application. If any further information is required at any stage, you will be notified by email. I understand your clients have incurred expense completing their health assessments and obtaining police clearances however these will remain current for 12 months.
The website was updated on 28 February 2014 (please refer to the date at the bottom of the webpage) advising that from February 2014, the Skilled Regional Sponsored GSM category has a limited number of visa places remaining.
We appreciate your patience in this matter.
Kind Regards
Dear Liana,
Let me give you my background before i ask my questions. I claimed for 263112, Network Administrator to ACS and I receive for which I got 8+ years experience in 10 May 2012. Then, in 2013 September I passed my IELTS where I got 6.5 score. After that, I applied and received invite from SA in Oct 2013 and so filed filed EOI claiming 60 points and applied for visa 190. Also, paid money for my family to DIBP in 23 Dec 2013. In Jan 2014, I got my HAP ID so I got medicals done for myself and my wife and daughters. I got my CO assigned from DIBP on mid Feb 2014 and he asked me to submit PCC for 2 countries which was pending from my side which I submitted immediately. I have uploaded everything on 22 Feb 2014 and after that there is no answer from my CO. I wanted to ask following questions in this regard.
1) As per DIBP site for visa 190, timeline is 3 months so shall I calculate it after submitting all docs which is 22nd Feb 2014 ? May I expect some feedback from my CO before 22 May 2014 at least ? or does it completely depended on CO when to initiate contact?
2) Validity of my ACS result is only up to 10 May 2014 ( as mentioned in ACS letter), so is it mandatory for DIBP to process my visa application before 10 May or it does not matter now since I already submitted all my documents before 10th May 2014 ? do I have to get it now new ACS ?
3) I visited lot of forums and it is highlighted that there is delay due to 2014 cap. Can you through some light on this ? what is expected after July 2014. will there be real speedy grants or the process will be slow as usual.
Appreciate your feedback.

I am just wondering what's going on. I lodged my visa 489 in January 23, 2014. CO asked for PC and MC on March 12. Request fulfilled on 03rd April. but its now July 12 still no final decision got regarding my visa status. Can any one please tell how long I have to wait to get a visa decision?? I am really exhausted.
I just came across your web site and got some details around the delay in processing the GSM applications by DIPB But as many have mentioned there is no reason for the sudden clam on processing even though they have not reached the cap as many have argued before me.
I had applied for 190 visa(including dependents-spouse and children) on 24 april and still waiting for a response from DIPB for allocating a CO. I have been issued with a bridging visa for self and children but strangely my spouse has been left out.
My 457 will expire in 5 days and i do not have any visibility on DIPB's strange ways...

KAKROT
Hi Kakrot, I have applied through a migration agent and he only told me to submit the pcc and medical. We have done as per he said. And I have read on various blogs that many people have submitted medical and pcc in advance. This is the first time I am hearing from you that this can create a problem.
