Last Friday, 9th October 2020 Migration Alliance in partnership with Legal Training Australia held the very first of its kind, an all-online National Migration Conference.
COVID-19 had a devastating impact on the Australian Migration Profession, seeing a number of practitioners forced out of business, or having to re-invent the wheel in the way they operate their businesses.
Support is the most vital element of surviving through the tough times and reassurance and hope is what keeps practitioners waking up every morning and doing what we as practitioners do best.
Over 900 practitioners registered for the event making it the largest Australian migration profession conference to date.
A special thank you goes to Liana Allan, founder of Migration Alliance Inc for organising the event. Despite battling a cold for the seven days leading up to the conference, Ms Allan was there to ensure that everything operated like clockwork.
We would also like to thank practitioners who gave up their time to deliver wonderful, insightful knowledge across a number of topics including sponsored visa experts Jacob Wylie and Ross Ahmadzai, Australian investment visa expert James Hall, and Accredited Specialist Immigration Lawyers Owen Harris and Christopher Levingston. A diverse range of knowledge and practical experience elevated this session to another level.
It is with great pleasure that we would like to thank the ACT, Tasmanian, Western Australian, Victorian and New South Wales Governments for providing practitioners with insightful knowledge into the year ahead. Cooperation and collaboration between practitioners and state governments demonstrates the valuable role that migration agents play in ensuring that our migration system remains second to none across the globe.

Finally, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the Department of Home Affairs and the Australian Border Force as well as the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for participating at the conference. Working together, we really can make a difference. The Department of Home Affairs has done a wonderful job to reassure agents that their concerns, ideas and suggestions are valued.
