An explosion of social media sites promoting prospective young Asian brides has caused a spike in abuse and exploitation, with reports some women are being held captive in suburban homes in situations that could constitute human trafficking.

Registered Migration Agents need to be alert and aware of clients presenting with these relationship characteristics.  The majority will be genuine relationships, but if something doesn't seem right or agents have a bad gut feeling about a couple, please email me or another colleague to ask for a second opinion.  Test the veracity of your clients statements.  "How did you meet?" is a good start.
