Immi account issues

Users of Immi account are advised that there are ongoing technical issues affecting the system. Certain visas applications are showing the following items as outstanding regardless of whether these were provided:

  • Health Assessment
  • Character Assessment
  • Biometrics
  • Additional payment requirement

Home Affairs advised that the above issues are being investigated by the technical team and will be fixed in due course.  In the meantime, if applicants or agents should disregard notice for outstanding documents if the documents or information has already been provided to immigration.

Planned Immi Account Maintenance

Users of Immi account should also note planned maintenance of immi account scheduled for 8th May 2019 between 5am and 8am. The following services will not be available during this period:

  • eLodgement (Online visa and citizenship applications)
  • My Health Declarations (MHD) service
  • eMedical
  • Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO)

High Number of ENS Refusals Filed with AAT

AAT reviews visa decisions involving people who want to work in Australia or businesses who want to employ migrants. These types of visa decision reviews make up a significant portion of our overall caseload. In this financial year to 31 March 2019, AAT received 8,438 applications for review of these decisions, representing 19% of the AAT’s overall caseload.

The most common types of decisions the AAT reviews in these case categories are:

  • decisions refusing to approve an employer’s application to be a sponsor, prior to them being able to nominate an individual
  • decisions refusing to approve an employer’s nomination of a migrant to fill a particular position
  • decisions refusing to grant a migrant’s visa application for the nominated position

Nurses are still in demand across regional areas

Many healthcare professions are often in short supply within the Australian labour market. For example, the Nursing profession, which has never budged from the Australian occupation lists. As a registered Nurse in Australia it is highly likely that an applicant will find employment easily and in many regional areas many care providers are willing to offer sponsorship.

For most healthcare professionals, the approved assessing authority would be the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Currently there are 19 occupations that are eligible for a skilled visa that require a skills assessment from ANMAC.

An applicant can only work as a Nurse or Midwife in Australia if they are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)

An applicant may be able to claim skilled employment points to help boost your points score however the initial work experience must first have been assessed by ANMAC.
