Migration Alliance has received a number of enquires regarding the 491 State Nominated Visas.  Below is a summary of 491 State Nominated Visas across each State.

New South Wales

NSW is currently not accepting or issuing new nominations for 491 via. In line with Home Affairs direction, NSW will commence invite applicants currently in selected health, ICT and engineering occupations, and who currently reside in NSW.

You do not need to submit a new EOI in SkillSelect if your current EOI is valid.

Victoria

Victoria is operating on a limited list of occupations at present. Those who submitted a Registration of Interest for Victorian State Visa Nomination on the Live in Melbourne website by 5pm AEST, 21 September 2020 are being considered for the nomination.  Further details are to be announced soon.

South Australia

South Australia will be publishing their occupation list soon.  At present, South Australia is operating under interim arrangements.  For further information, please visit:

Tasmania

Migration Tasmania will email all applicants who lodged their application, offering them an opportunity to either:

  • request priority consideration on the basis that they are engaged in a critical role supporting the health system or the Tasmanian economy, or
  • withdraw their application for nomination and receive a full refund of the application fee, or
  • continue with their application in respect of a requirement to demonstrate that their nomination will lead to a genuine ongoing and meaningful contribution to Tasmania’s economic recovery.

Queensland

491 invitations are still being sent out to applicants who submitted an EOI between 29 September – 05 October 2020. Please do not call or email to enquire about whether an application has been picked up, or where the application is the queue, as this slows down processing times.

BSMQ will advise a re-opening of the skilled program via our homepage and across social media in December 2020.

Western Australia

The 190 program is currently suspended and is expected to re-open in October.  No further details are available at this stage.

Northern Territory

At this stage, onshore General Skilled Migration (GSM) nomination applications and all Business Investment and Innovation Program nomination applications will continue to be accepted and assessed, but no nominations can be issued until the Northern Territory has been allocated quotas. Offshore GSM nomination applications remain closed.

Australian Capital Territory

The 491 program is open to those who are on the Critical Skills Occupation list.  Off-shore applications will not be accepted.
