NSW Business and Skilled Migration Skilled is close to filling its interim allocation of nomination positions for the 2020-21 program year provided by the Department of Home Affairs.

Following the Commonwealth Government’s announcement of the annual migration program planning levels, an additional provision of nomination positions for the reminder of the year may become available in the coming weeks.

Further information will be provided on our website once the allocation of nomination positions has been finalised.

Skilled migration

NSW will continue to operate an expression of interest and invitation model to address NSW’s skill needs.

Under direction from Home Affairs, NSW will continue to priorities applicants with skills to support NSW economic recovery and public health response.

We will only invite applicants currently in selected health, ICT and engineering occupations, and who are residing in NSW.

Regional migration

NSW will shortly announce changes to the management of the Skilled Work Regional Visa (subclass 491).

Information on changes will be announced on our Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) web page.

Business Innovation & Investment Program (BIIP)

In-line with the skilled migration program, NSW is currently operating an expression of interest and invitation model for Business, Innovation and Investment Visas. EOIs are still welcomed across all BIIP subclasses excluding the 132B visa and can continue to be submitted in Skill Select.

If additional positions are made available to NSW for the BIIP, NSW may change its approach to the management of the program for the remainder of the year.

NSW Business and Skilled Migration is unable to answer enquiries regarding the status of your Expression of Interest or your Intention to Apply

Information on changes will be announced on our Business and investor visas web page.

COVID Concessions

Home Affairs recently announced some concessions in Australia’s migration programs in relation to COVID. NSW will largely seek to honour these concessions where there is no direct conflict with additional nomination criteria set by NSW. We are unable to make assessments outside of a formal application process.
