MIA MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS………..A GOOD DEAL?

MIA’s CPD “REWARD” TO MIA MEMBERS FOR PAYING THE MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FEE

I understand the MIA is offering incentives for their existing membership to renew their membership. That offer, sent to MIA members via email at 3pm on 4 June 2018 looks like this:

“MIA Membership Renewals

Many MIA members will shortly be receiving their membership renewal notices.  We would like to announce a new member reward for those who renew their membership on or before the due date.  These members will receive a free CPD voucher that can be redeemed for any face to face or online Category B CPD activity (*conditions apply). In addition, members currently holding valid Private Study Module vouchers will be able to use those vouchers for these new activities as well.

*Not valid for MIA conferences or roadshows.”

MIGRATION ALLIANCE’S COUNTER-OFFER REWARD FOR NOT PAYING THE MIA MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FEE

Migration Alliance can do better than the CPD "reward" that the MIA is making to its own members (many of whom are also joint-members of Migration Alliance).  A migration agent can only claim a maximum of 5 category B activities towards their 10 points of CPD for re-registration purposes.  What agents really need is Category A activities.

If you are an existing financial RMA member of the MIA and you do not renew your MIA membership for the year starting 1 July 2018, Migration Alliance, through an agreement I struck with Legal Training Australia (LTA), will offer you 10 points of free CPD made up of 5 Private Study (Category B), and 5 Online Webinar Workshops (Category A)This offer does not include the Practice Ready Program or one day 10 point blitz face-to-face workshops.  The value of the offer is $330-$440 in free CPD.

How much do you pay for your MIA membership each year?  Is it now really worth it?

Save yourself some money and get great CPD at a fantastic price courtesy of MA and LTA.

To take up the 'Migration Alliance free CPD' offer please write to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and quote 'NOT RENEWING MY MIA MEMBERSHIP' followed by your MARN.    You will need to declare in writing that you will not be renewing your MIA membership for the 2018-2019 period, and then continue not to renew your MIA membership for the whole period.  You will probably receive phone calls from the MIA asking you to renew and pay after you do not renew.  You agree not to renew and pay for MIA membership for a 12 month period (1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019), even if you are pressured to do so.

Other good reasons that all you need is Migration Alliance:

  • Free to join (no annual membership fee)
  • New, fast news broadcasts (we have hired an additional news editor focusing breaking news in Australian migration law)

Other new and exciting offers will soon be released by Migration Alliance for its members such as:

  • A new online RMA forum
  • Low Cost RMA Travel Insurance (due to be released any day now)
  • A new banking partnership
  • More....
