8.00am -9.30am: 34229 - The Employer Nomination Scheme - 1 core point
The Employer nomination scheme is currently one of the popular categories for skilled workers in light of the recent changes within General skilled migration. This seminar examines its relationship with the temporary business entry program and will also address Regional skilled Migration Scheme and Labour Agreements. Current legislation, policy and processing arrangements as well as waivers with the ENS and RSMA program will be discussed further. DIAC managers and experienced practitioners will present this seminar.
9.45am -11.15am: 34226 - General Skilled Migration - 1 core point
This seminar looks at the threshold criteria and general overview of both the onshore and offshore GSM options. The points test, evidentiary requirements and recent legislative changes will be examined with emphasis on developing strategies to manage GSM applications in this new legislative environment.
11.30am -1.00pm: 34217 - Student visas - 1 core point
This seminar will give an overview of the student visa program and address important schedule 2 criteria including the assessment level system and the evidentiary requirements required to show that an applicant has a genuine intention to study in Australia. Visa application and lodgement issues will be discussed as will visa conditions, compliance, entitlements, bring family members to Australia and the criteria applicable to student visa guardians and applicants under the age of 18.

The Business Skills program is a very complex area that requires specialised knowledge of business and company structures. This seminar addresses the legislative requirements that cover the corporate high-flyers and examine the difference between the independent and state sponsored visa options, both onshore and offshore. DIAC Managers and Experienced/Accredited specialist presenters will present this seminar.

The temporary business sponsorship program is one of the most complex programs administered by DIAC with important changes expected throughout 2010. An overview of the threshold criteria with emphasis on Schedule 2 criteria will be examined with presentations from both experienced practitioners and DIAC Managers.

This seminar will address the strategies for clients who are unlawful and may be eligible to remain in Australia. The presentation will look at the ways a person may become unlawful, children of unlawful non citizens, the rights of unlawful non citizens, immigration detention, removal /deportation from Australia, exclusion periods that may apply to a former unlawful non citizen and re-entry back into Australia. This seminar will address submission writing and effective strategies in dealing with the Department when representing an unlawful non citizen.

This seminar will address then more complex areas of a partner visa including limitation of sponsorship, the family violence provisions, unlawful partners, Schedule 3 waivers, evidentiary requirements and the differing types of relationships and marriages. Migration Practice including a discussion on the different types of business structures, leasing arrangements, marketing activities and the standards set by the code of conduct in relation to confidentiality, release of documentation and document security.
