This afternoon, Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) provided registered migration agents an update on employer sponsored visas 

Migration Alliance Members might find the following summary useful: 

 

  • Next update to STSOL will go ahead as planned with updated list of occupations expected to be published in January 2018;
  • Anyone nominated as Baker or Pastrycook will need to meet caveat associated with their occupation, the newsletter attempts to clarify the caveat in detail;
  • DIBP is advising against submitting incomplete applications where possible as the DIBP will start to enforce their policy of making their decision based on the information provided at the time of lodgement;
  • Applications will continue to be allocated in order of lodgement.  However in some circumstances, DIBP will assess newer applications for “pipeline management purposes”;
  • Occupations for RSMS visas will remain unchanged for the time being;
  • From 1 October 2017, additional LMT evidence will need to be provided with lodged 457 nominations, DIBP will no longer be accepting Domestic Recruitment Table on face value;
  • Where evidence of external market salary is provided (especially in cases where salary is $65,000 or below per anum), it is advised that any salary surveys are accompanied by explanatory statement advising how the business was able to determine that terms and conditions of employment are no less favourable;
  • March 2018 update
    • Currently transitional arrangements for being clarified and finalised with substantial update expected to be provided in the coming months which is welcoming news;
