Migration Alliance has been contacted by Associate Professor Rebekah Doley of Bond University for assistance in notifying RMAS about a very important study that she is undertaking to assess the stresses that RMAs may experience when working with trauma-affected client populations.

Professor Doley describes the purpose of the study as follows:

"Of the approximately 6021 Migration Agents (RMAs) registered nationally, many will have worked at some time with trauma-exposed clients. I am looking for your support to understand how to build resilience in RMAs working in these difficult settings.

Rebekah Doley is a clinical and forensic psychologist working at Bond University as an Associate Professor. This research, assisted by Marina Radeka and Danielle Raynor (4th year students), is designed to identify the emotional pressures experienced by RMAs. The purpose is to inform professional training models to support RMAs in fostering and maintaining a sense of personal resilience and well-being. Moreover, raising awareness of the special emotional pressure points pertinent to work in this area can help RMAs to handle these unique demands in a timely, effective and productive way.

You are invited to participate in a confidential online survey exploring the potential impact of this work. The survey will take approximately 20 minutes. No personally identifying information will be collected and your responses will be collated with others to be reported as group data. Even if you are not currently working with trauma-exposed clients, your participation in this survey will help Professor Doley to develop a holistic picture of the demands experienced by RMAs. This is the first time in Australia that these issues have been considered in this setting."
